To summarize my career path:
I've always been a curious person. I never wanted to be confined to a single discipline, which is why I chose to become a translator — to learn as much as I could. I studied American Culture and Literature due to my love for reading, and I took various classes from departments like philosophy and sociology. This curiosity led me to a versatile career filled with learning, enabling me to develop a unique skill set that combines experience across multiple fields.
I began my subtitling career by volunteering on projects for hearing-impaired audiences. Later, I worked with websites translating subtitles for TV shows, where I also managed and led translation projects with a team of 10+ translators. After these experiences, I started freelancing with Deluxe Media, and I still maintain a contract with them.
Next, I worked for an architecture office where I translated technical documentation, managed communications, and negotiated projects with clients in various regions. Notable projects included the Riyadh Airport Additional Terminal, Rwanda Genocide Memorial Amphitheater, and Ghana Airport Hotel & Convention Center.
Once those projects were complete, I joined Lazzoni, a leading high-end furniture company that also operates a five-star hotel in Istanbul. During my year there, I handled translations, wrote articles, contributed to SEO efforts, and managed internal communications with international showrooms.
I left that position to pursue a Master’s in Linguistics and Literary Studies in Brussels. While studying, I worked for Questo, where I crafted fictional stories and designed a city exploration game. I also translated a book, which was published under the title Büyük Cennet Düşü.
When I moved to Germany, I joined Icecat NV, a SaaS company, as the Regional Sales and Marketing Manager for the Nordics and Turkey. Over three years, I created a group-specific CRM using Airtable, which boosted team efficiency and ultimately led our group to achieve the highest growth rate of over 25%, while the Turkish region, which I managed single-handedly, saw growth exceeding 100%. I supported high-profile stakeholders in achieving their goals, leveraging my SEO skills to assist with landing page optimizations in collaboration with the digital marketing and UX teams.Currently, I participate in SEO and linguistics projects on a freelance basis and looking for my next challenge while I develop my German skills. The other languages I know are;
- Turkish - Native
- English - C2
- German - B1
